Shredder wins against top grandmaster

Chess ClassicDeep Shredder 10 UCI has won both games in a match against the world class chess player Teimour Radjabov from Azerbaijan at the Chess Classic in Mainz. The 19 year old is considered to be one of the greatest chess talents ever and is currently leading the junior world ranking list. Shredder was running on a 1.63 GHz notebook from Livingston. It seems that it is very hard for human top players to compete with Shredder even on such moderate hardware.

The games were played with Chess960 or Fischer Random rules. Here the positions of the pieces are randomly chosen before the games. This way one can play without opening preparation and can concentrate on strategy and tactics. There is no need to learn and study opening lines.

In the first game Shredder has sacrificed a pawn on move 6 to activate his pieces. After 16 moves the game was over and Radjabov’s king was mated in the middle of the board. The second game was equal for a very long time, but after some manoeuvring Shredder was winning after 76 moves.
